Mumbai: Actor Salman Khan will be tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 hit-and-run case as a Mumbai court on Wednesday framed charges against him. Salman faces up to 10 years in jail if found guilty in the case.
Salman Khan has pleaded not guilty in court. He has, however, been exempted from personal appearance in the next court hearing, which is on the August 19. Salman was accompanied by his sisters in the court on Wednesday.
Reacting to the charges, Congress MLA Baba Siddiqui said, "We are shocked. Salman Khan is being crucified, he's paying price of being a celebrity."
